Sociology Department at Adamas University Hosts Seminar on Combating Human Trafficking
Kolkata, February 20, 2025: The Department of Sociology at Adamas University, in collaboration with the Legal Aid Committee, organized a seminar titled “Eradicating Human Trafficking: Strengthening Justice and Institutions for a Safer Society.” The event brought together academicians, law enforcement officers, legal experts, and activists to discuss strategies for tackling human trafficking.
The panel discussion, chaired by Dr. Radha Tamal Goswami, featured notable speakers including Arindam Acharjee (Retd. Inspector of Police), Jafar Iqbal (activist and educator), and Rajarshi Rai Chowdhury (cyber law expert). They shared real-life experiences, discussed the challenges of prosecuting traffickers, and highlighted the role of technology in both enabling and combating trafficking. A compelling Nukkad Natak by the Legal Aid Committee depicted the harsh realities of trafficking.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Moumita Das. Through this initiative, Adamas University reinforced its commitment to addressing critical social issues and promoting justice.
